 After
having had explored in his works from 2004-2006 his identity as
a simultaneous resident-outsider to the Western and the Arabic traditions,
Saed Haddad has been questioning the idea of forgetfulness
of ones own tradition as a means of investigating what might
after the prevailing era of using-ones-own-tradition
be. Otherness, irrealism, contradictions and cultural imperialism
are the main stimuli of Haddads work.
Born in Jordan in 1972,
resident in Germany, Haddad studied philosophy in Belgium, after
which composition in Jordan, Israel and the UK (PhD with George
Benjamin). He attended master classes with Louis Andriessen, Helmut
Lachenmann and Pascal Dusapin among many others.
His music has been performed
and commissioned by Europes most prestigious ensembles, orchestras
and festivals. Many honours rewarded his work including Le
prix de Rome (La Villa Médici) 2008-10.
