Todd Smith 1958 in San Luis Obispo, California, USA)
Educated 1978-1985 at the University of Minnesota, earning a Bachelor
of Sciences Degree in Electronic Music. This was a self-designed
major combining much of the curricula from the traditional majors
of Music Theory and Composition, Electrical Engineering and Computer
Science. Additional
emphasis was placed on Acoustics and Mathematics. Also minored in
Japanese Language. Since 1985 Todd has worked primarily in Los Angeles
on record production and music composition for film and television.
In 1989 he accepted a post as composer Frank Zappa's computer music
specialist, which became quite an education in itself. In this capacity
he has also done extensive development of software customized for
the rather esoteric needs of the composer.
