The Ojai Music Festival’s BRAVO education program and the Ojai Valley School present the Imagine Concert featuring Tamakan Rhythms. This concert will celebrate the appreciation of West African music and dance and will guide audiences on a journey to learn about the music and its cultural impact. This public concert is free and open to the public.
In addition to this free community performance, Tamakan Rhythms will have a special concert for students of the Ojai Valley Unified School District at Libbey Bowl early that day. Both free concerts are made possible by the Ojai Valley School-Barbara Barnard Smith Fund of the Ventura County Community Foundation.
About the Artists
“We are a group of friends who met at a West African school and embarked on a journey of saccadic drum beats, syncopated rhythms, and melodic music of West African songs. We have become the heartbeat of one musical family. We are Tamakan Rhythms, led by Master Drummer Solo Soro, djembe fola, djundjun fola, balafon fola. Together we are drumming the heartbeat of the human spirit. One love!” – Leticia Matson
