(September 26, 2013) — The Ojai Festivals Women’s Committee invites guests on a tour of four Ojai Valley homes, celebrating the art of living and distinctive approaches to the joy of the holidays. The 17th Holiday Home Look In, November 16 and 17 between 10 am to 4 pm, is known for highlighting architectural contrasts within the valley, something that is unique compared to other home tours in the nearby area.
The properties include Shantikar, a Fred Hummel house built in 1963; Casa Los Robles, filled with a significant private pre-Columbian art collection; Carper House, a custom built home using locally sourced stone interior and exterior walls; and Gridley Ranch, a 44-acre ranch surrounded by the Los Padres National Forest.
In addition, the annual Holiday Marketplace takes places the same weekend at the Matilija Junior High School Gymnasium with more than 40 vendors and artisans. Admission to the marketplace is free.
The tour and marketplace benefit the Ojai Music Festival and its BRAVO! music education program, which offer free workshops and concerts to the Ojai Valley public schools and the community.
In keeping with the tour’s mission to support the Ojai Music Festival and its BRAVO! program, guests will enjoy live music in the homes provided by local musicians, including BRAVO! students.
The tour price is $30 per person advance and $35 day of the event. A group discount is also available for 8 or more people. Organizers request no cameras allowed on the tour or children under 12 years of age. Comfortable shoes are highly recommended (no high-heeled shoes allowed). Free shuttle service will be provided for one of the homes. Call 805-646-2094 or visit OjaiFestival.org for tickets and information.
