Music Director Steven Schick and Artistic Director Tom Morris have curated a theatrical and explosive festival focused on music of the 20th and 21st centuries. The program features works by 34 composers – 23 of whom are living and 14 of whom are completely new to Ojai.

We will pay tribute to pioneers like Pauline Oliveros and Tan Dun, discover the emerging voices of Roland Auzet, and Lei Liang, Anna Thorvaldsdottir, and be inspired by recent works of John Luther Adams, Chenary Ung, Julia Wolfe, Evan Ziporyn, and more.

We will celebrate the 90th birthday of the immense composer Pierre Boulez with a stirring tribute. A mix of live music, rare archival documentary footage, and new interviews, A Pierre Dream: A Portrait of Pierre Boulez, will be performed within a specially commissioned environment by architect Frank Gehry. This spectacular production, created for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s Beyond the Score series, is designed to leave the audience refreshed by Boulez’s music and eager for more. The celebration continues with four concerts throughout the Festival exploring relationships between the music of Boulez and works by Bartók, Messiaen, Ravel, and Varèse.

Supporters of the Music of Our Time Fund at $2,000 and above will be invited to a special cocktail party prior to “A Pierre Dream: A Portrait of Pierre Boulez” on Wednesday June 10, 2015.

We invite you to join us today and invest in the music of our time.
